Practical studies of the secretion of snail mucus: Archachatina Marginata were carried out on equipment for the secretion of snail mucus Mucus pro.
The land snail Archachatina Marginata (habitat – Africa) is the most “Dry” snail in terms of the amount of mucus production in the wild.

The test secretion was carried out in the Mucus pro laboratory in Poland.

The smallest sublimation shrinkage of snail Archachatina Marginata mucus: the yield of dry mucus powder from liquid mucus is 4% (this is the largest indicator among all snails).
Conclusion: The snail mucus extractor “Mucus pro” extracts mucus from the snail Archachatina Marginata, with a short secretion time, with a capacity of 16% pure mucus, without additives from the total weight of the snail.

Overall, the mucus of the Archachatina marginata snail falls into the same category as the secretions of other African snail species (such as Achatina) in terms of allantoin and glycolic acid content, while surpassing them in vitamins C and A. Chromatographic analysis revealed that the mucus extract contains substances such as allantoin, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin—compounds widely used in skincare products and pharmaceuticals. Glycoproteins, including achatinin, achacin, and mytimacin, which possess antimicrobial activity, were also detected. Glycolic acid, another component commonly used in skincare, was also found. Together, these constituents underpin the cosmetic potential of Archachatina marginata mucus.
Allantoin promotes exfoliation, cell regeneration, and wound healing, while glycolic acid penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates collagen synthesis. The identified antimicrobial peptides indicate the antibacterial activity of Archachatina marginata mucus.
An analysis of the chemical and mineral composition of Archachatina marginata snail mucus was conducted. The results showed the following content of major components: moisture — 96.0%, ash — 1.02%, crude fat — 0.09 %, crude protein — 2.54 %, and carbohydrates — 1.15%. Mineral composition analysis revealed a high calcium content (7.37 mg/100 g), followed by phosphorus (5.25 mg/100 g) and potassium (3.43 mg/100 g). Magnesium content (2.72 mg/100 g) was moderate, whereas sodium (0.02), iron (0.25), and zinc (0.51) were present in negligible amounts. The obtained data indicate the high nutritional value of Archachatina marginata mucus; this snail mucus is entirely suitable for use in the food (nutraceutical) and cosmetic industries. Naturally, the chemical and mineral composition may vary slightly depending on the snails’ diet, the season, and the region where they are raised or inhabit.
