Georgia se ha sumado a la lista de países a los que se les permite exportar caracoles al mercado de la UE, dijo el Ministerio de Agricultura en un comunicado.
This decision was made in accordance with the European Commission Regulation 2022/34 of December 22, 2021.
The adoption of this regulation was preceded by measures taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Food Agency to approximate EU legislation, prepared under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).
The Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Rural Development Agency, has implemented numerous projects that contribute to the development of snail production in the country.
As the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili noted earlier, snail production is quite an interesting direction for farmers in terms of its cost. The income from one hectare is several tens of thousands of euros. In agriculture, the emphasis on areas with greater added value is a state priority.
Within the framework of the Preferential Agricultural Loan Project, 38 loans were issued in the amount of more than 10 million lari for the creation and development of snail production, while the co-financing issued by the Rural Development Agency amounted to more than 824 thousand lari.
